Topic: Genetics & Evolution
This is a fun test question that I ask in my general biology class when I am testing them on genetics. See if you can answer it correctly! In cartoon sponges the allele for pants is dominant (P). A sponge having no pants has the recessive phenotype (genotype pp). Sponge Bob is heterozygous for the gene which controls whether cartoon sponges have pants. If he gets busy with a no pant lady sponge, what is the ratio of possible genotypes of their little sponge offspring? Poll now closed. Correct answer: #3 1 Pp : 1pp Half of their offspring will be heterozygous for pants and half will be recessive (no pants).
